El trabajo y las profesiones

Fun Stuff and Games

Escaleras y Serpientes Game & Other Tasks: Affirmative tú Commands & El Trabajo: Here are several activities, including an Escaleras y Serpientes, or Chutes and Ladders, game, that encourage students to practice affirmative tú commands, with the theme of el trabajo. There is:

  • a short warm-up, where students review regular affirmative tú commands

  • a short instructional mnemonic device that helps students learn certain irregular affirmative tú commands (venir, tener, poner, salir, hacer, decir, ser, ir).

  • a game (Escaleras y Serpientes) that requires 2-4 players and dice for each board,

  • a task where students create their own tips to live a happy life using affirmative tú commands, and

  • a task where students give affirmative tú commands from people in the certain professions to others. This may be a homework task if you wish.

You will need an image from my website for the happy life tips task. The site is: https://gramatichica.wixsite.com/laprofesoragil/el-trabajo-y-las-profesiones. Scroll to "Fun Stuff" section, and find image one for IEscaleras y Serpientes.

Everything's written in Word, so you can edit as necessary. Great for Spanish 1!

El Trabajo theme: 3 AUTHENTIC, DIFFERENTIATED Listening Tasks for Spanish 1 or 2:

Here are three DIFFERENTIATED listening tasks on the theme of el trabajo. Each activity is based on an AUTHENTIC video in Spanish.

Activity 1 is based on the video Peppa Pig - Trabajar y jugar, found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5brDv9l2aZ8. There is a beginning task to practice prediction, a second section that has more specific questions, and post-listening task. The second section is DIFFERENTIATED based on levels of difficulty.

Activity 2 is based on the video Caillou va a trabajar, found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5sFlSqMMaI. There is a beginning task to practice prediction, a second section that has more specific questions, and post-listening task. The second section is DIFFERENTIATED based on levels of difficulty.

Activity 3 is based on the video Caillou - Todo un Dia de Trabajo, found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWUqlGAPge8. There is a beginning task to practice prediction, a second section that has more specific questions, and post-listening task. The second section is DIFFERENTIATED based on levels of difficulty.

These activities are all very similar; perhaps you might use one for instruction, a second for in an assessment and a third in a study guide for that assessment (as I used them), but you might use them all for instruction or even for homework. It might seem a little silly to use these videos as they were originally designed for young children, but in my experience, teens seem to enjoy them. And the language is basic enough (yet still authentic) for Spanish learners to follow along. Everything's written in Word, so you can edit as necessary. These activities are great for Spanish 1 or 2.
