Other Activities

Interpersonal Writing: Una Predicción de mi Vida, Future Tense with -Ir: Here's an interpersonal writing task where students write to their future selves and predict what their lives will be like. Students will write about:

  • Their future personalities

  • Their future families

  • Their future school life ( classes, grades, activities, friends, etc.)

  • Their future hobbies (sports, activities at home, your talents)

  • Their future graduation day

  • Where they'll attend college (where they will be accepted, where they'll choose to go, what they'll study, etc).

Once the rough draft is finished, students will swap them with a partner's rough draft. They will peer edit each other's work. Then, they will complete a final draft. There is a rubric you can use to edit their work as well. Everything's in Word, so you can edit as necessary. Great for Spanish 1 or 2!

Búsqueda de personas: Using the Present Progressive with the School Theme: Here's an activity where students write about what others are doing in school using the present progressive tense in Spanish. Their mission is to walk around the school and find certain kinds of people to write about. Students work in teams as they search of type of person. Each kind of person is worth a certain number of points:

  • 4 estudiantes - 2 puntos cada uno

  • 3 profesores - 4 puntos cada uno

  • 2 empleados de la escuela (no son profesores) - 6 puntos cada uno

  • 1 visitante a la escuela - 8 puntos cada uno

When they finish, students will create a map and identify where each person was in the school when he or she was found. They will label the map with complete sentences in the present progressive in Spanish. Of course, you will need to be able to trust your students to be responsible enough to complete such an activity. If they are, this activity can be a lot of fun. Everything's in Word, so you can edit as necessary. Fun for Spanish 1 or 2!
